Mother’s Day Gift Ideas

Mother’s Day is just one week from today, so if you haven’t gotten a gift for your Mom yet, I’ve got a few suggestions to share.

Jewelry or Clothing

One of my new favorite new local shops is Branch Boutique at Lee Branch. I won a gift card in one of their grand opening and went in to use it then wound up writing a story on them for 280 Living. I’ve since been in to buy several gifts for girlfriends. They have a great selection of all kinds of things, but I’ve gotten two necklaces for friends and a pair of earrings (photo above) for me that I just love!

I am crazy about candles and am always thrilled to get one as a gift. Here are three of my favorite candle companies:
1. Capri Blue. The volcano scent is my absolute favorite. You can find them at local stores, including Anthropologie and others, but I usually order mine online.
2. Buttnaked Candles. I met the owner at a craft fair in Cullman last year and had to stop by and talk to her simply because I loved her business name. I got three candles from her that day and loved them all.
3. Wax & Tin. I did a story on this company several years ago, then turned out to be in a bible study with the owner, Brittany. She does pour a lot of her candles into cute beer cans, but she has other options, and you could take an item to her to have your candle poured in too!

Art & Printables

Of course there are TONS of options on Pinterest and Etsy, but my Jane Lazenby is one of my favorite local artists. I have several of her paintings in our house and LOVE them. She has paintings available for purchase, and also made an adorable print just for Mother’s Day. In addition, her book Expressions came out last year and also makes for a wonderful gift for Mom.

Who doesn’t want a spa day, or even a massage? There’s nothing like the gift of some time for complete relaxation. I recommend:
Tammy Burton Massage Therapy near Brookwood Mall. I’ve had many massages by Tammy over the years and she never disappoints!
Spa Cahaba at Cahaba Dermatology on Valleydale Road. They offer tons of services, from facials to chemical peels to CoolSculpting and a salt pool.
Buff City Soap– they have specials already put in boxes (that include soaps, bath bombs, body oils and more) so you can just go in and grab one and be on your way. They have locations on 280 and in Hoover.

If your Mom has a love for reading, either grab a book from an author or genre you know she loves, or get her a gift card to a book store. Make a run by Barnes & Noble or Target or order on Amazon. Here are three recommendations from me:

Valorie Burton– any of them, but her newest is It’s About Time

Emily Giffin– literally any of them, but her newest is All We Ever Wanted

Rachel Hollis– Girl, Wash Your Face & Girl, Stop Apologizing

Gift Cards

If you want to give a gift, but not sure what to get, let her pick it out by getting her a gift card! (Starbucks & Amazon have e-gift card options for you procrastinators!)
My recommendations are:

Do something nice

*Give her breakfast in bed
*Take her out to lunch or dinner
*Let her take a nap
*Wash and clean out her car
*Let the kids give her homemade cards

What do you plan to do for your Mom for Mother’s Day? Whatever you do, just make sure you don’t forget it. She’s the reason you’re here!
