We’ve made it through summer. All 10 weeks of it. Give yourself a hand!
For us working moms, it’s hard to do our jobs and also feel like you’re doing enough fun stuff with our kids. I worked half days in the office this summer and would then pick up the kids from whatever activity they were at or get home to relieve the babysitter.
My kids have had a very busy summer, filled with VBS x2, a family trip to Hilton Head, two church camps, basketball and science camp and YMCA camp and a visit to his grandparents for my oldest’ several weeks at summer fun at her preschool, several playdates, kindergarten camp and for my youngest.
My son said summer went by too fast. It did seem like a quick 10 weeks, but I’m okay with that. I’m ready for the first day of school. We had meet the teacher earlier this week. Morgan got the same teacher Carson had for kindergarten, and Carson got the only 5th grade teacher I knew personally (she went to our church a few years ago) so I’m thrilled about both of those.
Everyone has asked me if I’m sad about Morgan starting kindergarten. I’m not. If you know her at all, you know she is so ready and will do amazingly this year. I have been praying for them and for their teachers for weeks and can’t wait to see what this school year has in store for them.
To have them at the same school (just this one year!) is going to be fabulous. I’m starting my third year on PTO (publicity officer) which I’m also excited about. I love being at the school, forming and fostering relationships with teachers and administration and keeping other parents in the loop via Facebook and quarterly newsletters.
To all the mom’s (and dad’s) sending your kids off to school tomorrow, good luck! Take those first day photos, drop them off (or put them on the bus) and then take some time to read my latest post on Birmingham Mom’s Blog: https://birmingham.citymomsblog.com/school/getting-mom-ready-kindergarten/
